I put that down to an optical illusion.

Ok - but still odd, especially the (small) electrolytic. Some sort of decoupling between the rails?

Alan wins with the spare transistor. It didnt escape though, as they're all bolted down (and all present). But it was repaired before by someone, as well as cheap fans fitted (with insulation tape), one of the speaker cables was trapped under the (live) heatsink and the poor thing went bang when one of the clinchnuts holding the lid fell into something important (would've been held in by the lid screw until it was removed).

Some birthday, nothing but underwear, food and booze: I was expecting some man-toys at least...

You'll need more than a medium in y-fronts if you scoff that lot.

I'm one of those skinny-types, but not to worry..they're a set of 3 t-shirts off my brother. Who needs underwear?

'kinell, where to begin?
Obviously soldered using a toys-r-us junior engineer kit, with what looks like silver play-do.  Bit of flux would have gone a long way.
Total failure to seat heatsink, although judging by it's neighbor, head-mashing torque has been applied.  With the wrong bit.

That's the bleeding obvious covered, anything specific?

Yarr, cold solder joint, loose fuse, badly seated transistor, mashed bolt.

This one is more of a sad story than a spot the cock up quiz.

The client report with this was that it had been repaired and was working but with an annoying clip light.

So I decided to double-check the work done, and I pulled-out the short-circuit crowbar triac and all the output transistors.....

PS there's a deliberate mistake on this pic too.....
