Which suggests drivers like,
Void V18-1000, Prototype PD1852, Turbomax 1200, Are all rubbish on sub duty. Maybe someone here would like to comment on that. Edited by levyte357- - 16 May 2014 at 4:49pm |

I think you mean different - it all depends on your goal. For example the V18-1000 was really designed for cabinets that didn't do much below 40, with a big peak at 45. Strangely enough, when I've measured scoops or rear-loaded horns in the real world, that's where their peak is and where the sound man has gone 'feel that super low weight'…

Granted, Scoops are better 40hz+ for the real SPL range, but I've lost count how many times Scoopists have been ridiculed or called nutters, for wanting amps that can do strong 40hz, or talking about 40hz HPF. Sure I've seen it posted on forum, number of times, 40hz is where many Pro PA firms cut their sub. Edited by levyte357- - 16 May 2014 at 6:58pm |

The statement holds true to some extent in a reflex cabinet because the drivers are not well suited to that cab design. You can get plenty of sub out of those drivers in a cabinet with higher air loading such as horns and bandpass. A reflex cab just doesn't load the driver enough to make use of the motor strength.

V18-1000 loaded supers have been measured in a block of 4 doing quite a meaty 33hz before. Edited by Autograff - 19 May 2014 at 3:17pm |

Not possible, "Scoops can't do deep sub". Only 2x18s can go that deep [/sarcasm] |

4 scoops yes, might go low. My 21 inch rear loaded horn goes to 32hz as one box.
But one 18inhc scoop vs one double 18 dont have a chance.

Marjan, would be great if you could bring 4x 218s to Golden Palace, London, to face 3x other decent Scoop systems, to test your theory.
Problem is, I'd guess you'd want more than the 32A, alloted to each system. |
