Building a 6-8 punishers with 2-3 xtros
As the Punishers only get to 45-50hz what would you recommend a another another few speakers to go underneath the punishers to get lower, if so what speaker plans would best suit DNB, hardcore/gabber, hardtek/raggatek |

Building 8 Punishers and a set of bass bins to go beneath them isn't a very efficient use of drivers or enclosures.
But if you're sure, you need to consider a block of 4 Punishers will go so loud, and the lower bass registers are harder to drive still, so anything less than a block of 4 Startec SuperBassHorn would struggle to keep up. You might get away with 4x Cubo Sub or similar 18" or 21" hybrid horn. But then why not just 4x SBH, that'll cover the entire range. What do you plan to do with the third Xtro if you build 3? Mono-stack? To be honest you may find that these giant horn enclosures are overkill for your application, and the system won't scale well for smaller events. Cubo 18 is a good compact option that will go plenty low enough to satisfy with the genres you mention, and the xtro will handle the kick. It's a solid one cabinet bass solution, which also works well even as a single enclosure, which massively opens up the potential applications of the system.

You really don't need anything under a decent stack of punishers for that sort of playback. Just build them and enjoy. If you must have lower extension then just build a different horn or reflex enclosure in the first place and save yourself a significant amount of truck space and power requirements |

Xtros drop low enough to use a longer horn (SBH for example) or even some BP6 below to get near the 30Hz mark.

100% agree
In a block of 4 they play flat to ~40 hz, but honestly rather than looking at the numbers you should just listen to them. 40hz is plenty low enough for for that kind of music. We recently upgraded from 8 punishers and 2 xtros to 12 punishers and 4 xtros and the difference is HUGE. I think it will be far more useful spending your time, energy and money building more punishers. |
