Not necessarily dodgy, seen this happen on a few, especially embedded BIOS serial (late 7 and all 8 8.1) jobbies, but then I have hundreds through my hands a year. MS uninterested, simplest solution is to change serial.

Obviously this dude did something dodgy. This is why proper PC Techies charge real money, as opposed to cowboys, who offer botch job for cheap. In last 2x years, I've sold at least 5-10x PCs/Laptops, where I upgraded machine to new version of Windows 10, never this problem. But then again, I only deal with DELL machines, NOTHING ELSE. |

tbh cant find the license , by the task bar bottom right, is that correct? pretty sure its just the home windows 10, its nothing fancy standed i think so the PC fella has put a dodgy windows on my laptop then, it seems? thanks again Jay

If it was on 7 there may be a windows license on bottom. Might be under battery, take a look. If not then run winver (just like that) from the search box and when it finds it right click run as admin. Let us know which version of 10, Home or Pro? Plenty serials about here, can talk you though putting a new one in. (legitimately)

Seen this on UEFA Bios machines where the 8.1 was installed with silly BIOS serial. Seems some just, "let go"
But questions: 1. How long ago was the install done? 2. Was the machine on 7, 8 or 10 when you got it? 3. If on 7 is there a license sticker on bottom? I'm guessing its an 8.1 machine. The code in the bios just gets forgot/confused. You can try to activate by phone You can reset bios to default but will probable have to re-boot with shift key held down to get there You are going to need some knowledge. From an elevated command prompt (google it) type Failing this go back to the PC man, it's a messy fault |

im not at your level at all with pc/laptop ect  Had my laptop tottaly wiped and pc man fully instaled windows 10 be fine till orther day, now this keep popping up , after been shut down or laptop lid closed Thanks
