I am thinking more about the measurements in the start of the horn flare where flare and front chamber meets.

It is not excactly the same, but very close.

About the driver, i think that should be strong enough then πŸ™‚
And Its actually the same price as PD154 when discount has been added.

I know 60hz isnt low low, and thats also fine.
If i need them to go lower, i will ad more. 2 stacks of 6 drivers each should make it a bit lower i guess πŸ™‚

Or else, if i really need some grunt, i will add some dual18 BR boxes.
Best regards... Frank

its a matter of looks. acoustics wise, 3 piece is totally fine.
15nlw9401 has carbon reinforced cone, iirc. way stronger than pd154 for sure.
You wont get usefull output below 60Hz, no matter what you put inside though.

Might be a good idea to check that πŸ™‚
Or else, neo must be the way.
I am mostly conserned about the strength of the cone.
I will from time to time be running a double on each side for small gigs. So it will be highpassed pretty "low".
So its not all kick duty. "sub" duty will also be needed sometimes.

Do you have any comments on the curved-to-3piece convertion? Or is it just all dandy and great that way? πŸ˜„
Best regards... Frank

yeah that is the ferrit Γ€quivalent and works aswell. not sure if the magnet fits inside the chamber, check that please ! ;)
It will be a smoother tone but still far from "washy" if you get what i mean.

Interesting. I also think the pd154 loaded Cubo215 had very aggressive and harsh sound to it. But at the same time a really Nice kick.

You think the 15nlw9401 will deliver a more rounded and smooth kick?
What about 15lw2400? Looks to be just about the same driver, with ferrite and about 20% cheaper. Price isnt critical, but i dont need to save weight πŸ™‚

i know, but imo the "original" Hd15 is not a nice cab at all. it has a brutal and unpleasant sound to me.
Same as every low qes driver in a BPH, after simming and hearing quite some.

Ermm Pd154 is the recommended driver for this cab, and the Lf15n401 Sims almost the same.
But I will take a look at what you recommend also πŸ™‚

Both Chassis have to low qes for a frontchamber of that size. Try going with somehting more "moderate" around 0,28-0,3.
18sound 15NLW9401 comes to mind.

Would not say that it helps alot πŸ™‚
A Sim does not tell much about how the sound is.

But I can almost figure it out, that the PD will be more harsh and have more attack. I have used it in some Cubo 215 cabs some time ago. Very Hard hitting!

I have been reading and reading aaaand reading.
And now i have come to that conclusion that i should just build them as they are.. Standard HD15.
But...! I would like to make the flare with 3 straight sections instead of a curve. So after alot of failed Google searching, i found some partial drawing of a plan regarding the 3 piece flare.

From those, i have made my own drawings. Can anybody confirm that my findings are correct and that it will work like the original HD15?
There are small chamber volume differences, and also small differences in the throat. Am i good to go?

Pictures here:

And last but not least.. I am trying to choose between PD154 and RCF LF15N401.
They will cost me the same, so wich driver would be the superior choice?

Best regards Frank
