Hope all are well, when you mount an existing lan cable in one of these plugs, do you have to snip the latch off the plug ? Many thanks Kev |

No, there’s a cutout for it that you can see in the photos there.
The connection should still latch. The relevant EtherCon socket on the other end should release the latching tab on the RJ45 connector when the push tab on the socket is pressed. If you’re making a new cable and termination to go in the EtherCon connector, then it’s good practice to tie the drain of the CAT cable to the outer ring of the EtherCon. That should ensure a shielded connection; commonly mixing desks such as the Behringer X32 won’t have a shielded connection to their digital stage boxes if this isn’t done.
