Hi all,
I have an antique cable radio speaker box which I would like to make into a bluetooth speaker. The existing speaker and internals are useless, so basically it's just a wooden box. The old speaker was 8" round and about 4" deep. I was looking to use the following to make it into a bluetooth speaker. Dayton Audio KAB-250v4 2 x 50W Class D Audio Amplifier Board with Bluetooth 5.0Dayton Audio KAB-FC Function Cables Package for Bluetooth Amplifier Boards19.5V DC 3.33A AC Power Supply Adapter with 2.1 x 5.5mm Tip + PlugDayton Audio RS100-4 4" Reference Full-Range Driver 4 Ohm |

If it's a full range driver it will require no crossover with that amplifier.

Even if I am using two of the same driver? Sorry for questioning but don't want to make any mistakes. Is there anything else that you would suggest is needed? |

and if I decide to use a woofer along with the full range driver, would I then need a crossover?
If so what would you suggest? Is there any point to having a woofer along with the full range, or not really needed? |

Just run 1 full range driver per amplifier channel. If you intend to go with a sub too I'd recommend a 2.1 amplifier with crossover built in already. Keeps things simple on your part.
A 2.1 amplifier will run 1 sub + 2 full range drivers (stereo + sub). The sub driver would ideally need it's own separate chamber inside the box though. Edited by GEB - 25 September 2025 at 6:19pm |

Ok.
How do I connect the 19.5V DC 3.33A AC Power Supply Adapter with 2.1 x 5.5mm Tip + Plug to the amplifier card? |

Normally it just plugs straight into the board via a barrel connector. If your amp has bare wire power inputs then just chop the barrel connector off the amp and wire it in via bare wires.

Thanks for the suggestion.
The hole is actually 9", so I was thinking of attaching the two 4" on two strips of wood, top and bottom, then attach the strips across the hole. Can't figure out how to share a picture of it that I have on my google photos. I looked at the link for the 8" dual concentric but that weighs 9lbs, which I think is too much for the purpose. |

Not a wind up.
Just someone who knows next to nothing about speakers. |

Mounting them on 2 bits of wood won't work unless they're sealed to the box (air tight all the way around the driver circumstance).
