PD1851 is probably my fav PD driver ever. I heard it works well in Superscooper 18. |

I am still enjoying TBX100 in superscoop. Even used for live bands a few weekends ago and had various compliments on how clean the sound was (!) deffo not quite as brutal as PD/Void/new beefy B&C, 18sound etc but for little over £200 new can't complain.
Pretty sure Martin used TBX in s218 so would make sense to go for those.

Now in 2022, there are vastly superior drivers, than PD1850 and B&C 18TBX100. Only reason to use either of these drivers would be low cost, especially as PD1850 cannot be bought new. 18TBX100 is great in right reflex/horn cab, PD1850 is great in ASS and similar tight Scoops. |

Ive no idea what stops the 1850 working in reflex boxes, but it doesn’t work well and has a decidedly wooden tone in all the cabs i have heard, one if the worst being the old CVA 1850 sub that many chain nightclubs were using in the 1990’s. Horrible things.
I did attempt good sounding 1850 reflex a few times as i had 24 of them to hand at one point, but soon gave up, sold them and purchased colossus 18XB’s which made a much nicer, warmer, tuneful sound. For reflex buy the B&C.

Never used the 1850, but what is wrong with it in a BR cabinet? Has it to do with the dip around 50/60Hz due to the strong motor? Some EQ could fix that problem.

1850 is a horn driver, the tbx100 sounds good in reflex, never heard a good 1850 reflex box
