Can anyone recommend DCX2496 eq setting for flattening the response of this driver? Most sources say it needs eq but don't give any specifics.

Good choice of driver, i can't recommend them enough (when you can get hold of them).

I EQed mine flatter but i think it sounds better without to be honest. Try -3db @ 3.04khz q 0.7. (You will have to have this on both the tweet and mid). This may be due to my choice of tweeter but after studying the FR graphs of both i definitely think it is the ATC causing the presence.

I think you will find that ATC don't EQ it either. Flat is not necessarily 'better'.

The net result is it biases the midband below a bit more which to my mind is undesirable. Depends what application you are using it in as well. Nearfield / far field.

Cheers mate, I'll try it out. Btw using Raal 140-14d ribbon tweets; they're well worth taking a listen to if you get the chance.

Sorry meant 15d! Used them to replace Scan Speak domes as part of a higher power 4 way system build. They sound quite different, in a good way, but it's hard to describe. One thing for sure is their sonic character remains constant however hard you push them, whereas the domes would tend to increase in distortion steadily as the power increased. I run them off an RMX850 and they keep up with a 1500w Mycro x sub. I had to get them from Madisound in the states, but you can get replacement ribbons, support etc. direct from the guy in Serbia who makes them.

Thats a peculiar setup you've got... Is it some kind of small rig or is it a home stereo / monitoring setup... I am bemused at the choice of an RMX850 to drive tweeters....?

It's a home system that started off fairly domestic many years ago and ended up fully pro albeit with a Jbl top crossed above 400 to ATC and Raal. I used to use pro amps just for the bottom end but decided to use them across the board so I could drop the gain and keep the signal high upstream. Also it's an amp I'll have for years and may use in many other configurations. It's all very silly but sounds beautiful.

Im intrigued by these Raal drivers, shame you cant get them in the UK. I would be a bit concerned having something that fragile (and expensive) shipped from America...

I think the 150S and the Raal 14d look like a good match on paper

Yes my home stereo is mono at the moment, but never mind, stereo isn't all its cracked up to be Wink

I've seen that before... and i bet it has a fantastic sound even though an 'audiophile' would disagree (they hear things with their eyes).
