Had the opportunity to take a brand spanking new DAS Aero 12P linearray rig out for a festival this weekend..

It was so new that the last of the subs had yet to arrive, so we threw some extra single 18 JBLs on top of the DAS subs, just to make sure we had enough headroom.. We were expecting upto 2K punters during the day, but ended up with around 500.. ( it rained heavily all day friday during setup and some considerable showers during showday aswell )

The rig performed well - I used to work with the DAS distributor here, and got involved in creating some better presets for that system - the factory presets were.. well.. unimpressive - they did give a flat response according to Smaart, but it didnt sound good and was very hard to work with..  Cant tell if this is a difference in expectations or what it was, but I prefer something that doest require massive eqing on every single ch. on the desk..  There are still a few things that need tweaking, but its definately become a workable rig now..  The only real complaint I have is the rigging - its much easier on the d&b Q cabinets, but maybe thats just me being too used to the Q stuff...

The Teepee style rigging project is still in progress - have now found someone who can cut the steel for the top sections - will keep you posted..

The rain was really bad - we got around one inch of rain on friday and about half an inch on sat.

I think the organisers lost a bit of money, but havent got that part sorted out yet... break-even point was 800 punters, they had about 450 there..

The Bobcat holding the stage right hang sagged a bit overnight resulting in one side of the PA was about 40 cm lower than the other side, but that was due to the fact that it was parked on very soft ground, so the outriggers sunk in..  The Manitou on the other side didnt cause problems..

I dont know how much you would call "all that weight", but the hangs weighed less than 400 kg per side..

Ive flown LED screens weighing more than twice that on several occasions using the same method..

I saw a great idea of flying cabs using quadlite  in a goalpost type system.
The guy had a goalpost with three way tees upside down and a couple of metre lengths instead of base plates to stabilise the bottom and some big style winches to get the cabs ups
Not sure what sort of winch you`d need, dependant on just how heavy the tops are I guess.
I got the quad, I might give it a go if my mate is keen.
dont make me use UPPERCASE !!

the hydraulics wouldnt/shouldnt move once set. They will have valves so in the case of it stalling when in use or being used to hang something stationary like this, the hyraulics are locked solid and will not move short of critical failure of the lines or piston.

Must have been damn wet for it to sink from such little weight on the hang!!

btw, what was the gap inbetween FOH and stage? Looks pretty tiny in that pic, 2k people would have been a nightmare - and the crowd barriers.... oh dear
