Hi, from experience a 300w cool white will replace the 150w Hti. In regard to the other comments, a production led fixture will not replace it on a number of fronts, in my opinion mainly because the chips will not last long enough for their cost of replacement. They will always be more to replace, also they are not as efficient as hti and the half life will always be less than stated in spec sheets usually far less and degradation of the phosphor layer and die is slow and not noticed. However if you design a proper fixture, put in the work it will be way better than both. In this instance also try using a 200w chip first to see if it will do what you need, a 300 will need approx 8"x8" minimum fan cooled heatsink pref 10". In my opinion make your own, it will fit the fixture and cost alot less..

Im using the following to convert my Clay Paky Mini Scans, this is an area I know very very little around, but Ive had a lot of help over on the Blue Room from someone who has done this before, this may (or may not!) help you For the LED im using https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/cob-leds/1712923/ and the following holder https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/led-reflectors/1241018/ (which saves soldering onto the COB) and then reusing an old desktop heatsink and fan https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-DC7700-SFF-Desktop-Cooling-Heatsink-Fan-435265-001-435063-001/171820492521

in all honesty Ford, i'd sell those on as they are and get some IP rated LED units that mix colours additively. They will probably be cheaper than doing the conversion, certainly run cooler, more efficient in terms of power usage and more than likely a lot brighter.

I am very keen to convert some old studio due mini city to led at present they run a 150watt hmi passive cooling, I was wondering how do you rate the cmy colour mixing using LED in your scans and what would be the maximum power led one could use in such circumstances.. They get pretty hot after a few hours with the hmi and the thermal cutout is rated at 110c

I also bought thermostats, I may fit them because they are a good and cheap safety measure but in the end they were so cool it didnt need it

You wouldn't be able to do the same with moving heads as sufficient cooling would be too heavy. Hence why I chose scanners, plus they move faster and have less problems. Thanks for all the compliments. I'm a total cheepskate, which is why I'm so determined to make a permanant bulb. Plus the arc ones have blown up before
