And there I was thinking scoops only work on rolling basslines. Tony, A.S.S. gear will never cease to amaze me.

Correction to my last post. It's the Reflekta MX system that's in the Astoria not the RX.

Tony, do you find the trapezeiod shape box, are inferior to the traditional rectangle/cuboid/box shaped whatever the term, I notice the BS1200s are rated down to 40Hz where the MX1200s(trapezoid shape) only play down to 50Hz, I know the reason for the MX is to cater for line arrays but is it harder to design, does it have more bad points????????

One fundametal reason for the different response is the size. The mx1200 is a lot smaller than the BS1200. Although the horn path lengths are similar the volume in the horns is different.
Unfortunaly, when I did the MX system I was influenced by the acceptable size situation. Everyone had boxes this size, so I went with it. It took ages for me to get a satisfactory response out of the MX1200. When I did the BS1200, I wasn't restricted by size so much and I built it as a stand alone bass cab. When it came to the MX system. After I was satisfied with it, the response was never going to be a problem, as the 21" sub was always going to be part of the system. I know this is stetching the point, but the only thing that matters with a lot of sound is the size of the cab. Being trapezoidal has nothing to do with it. After all, it would be possible to build a trap cab that was bigger all round than a square one. I don't think any of those systems have bad point. The MX system took the longest time to develope, Where as the BS1200 was visulized, with one drawing and built straight away. It was the same with the old 121. It was easy. |

I have two MX1200s that I haven't loaded yet, cannot afford the drivers.... I want to load with the original 1550s that were in the box. I do however have a couple of eminece kiomax in some 15" scoops, I might see how they sound in it.
