neither have 3" coiled drivers though. they will make sound up that high, but not as nicely as the old ones.

Really?
That amazes me! I use lf15mb401 4" vc in my tms-2s I think they sound nicer than ls-1506, measurements & sims looks nicer too. |

A 718 isn't crash hot @ 180Hz I wouldn't like to hear one running out to 280...
