1. That's funny cos I just typed in USB into the search box and the third link down (http://www.speakerplans.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12149&KW=usb&PID=111691#111691) had the plans.

f**king Amazing or what!

2. The USB bin is not a 'sub'

Just looked at these plans out of interest, and what I saw was a modified Turbo cab. Are things like this worth doing?

If you happen to like that type of bass sound.....

I really don't like the Turbo/F1 bass cabs.  Whatever you put in, it sounds the same when it comes out.  They're just not 'musical'.  Though I'm sure they're great for dance music.

personally I love the sound of the turbos like these, I love the tight bass that you get out of it, though it's personal preferance of what you like, I like the tight bass that feels like it's punching you when they hit, others like the smooth bass. A good compromise between the two cabinets if you are wondering, in my opinion is the Martin Audio WSX. It's punchy, but also has a smooth sound to it.

Ah, now the WSX I like.  It's got the tight, controlled sound you get from a horn but in a more accurate, musical way.

Almost all my gigs are live bands which may have some bearing on my preference.

Don't forget when you listen to a Turbo type horn. you are listening to a short throw device. unlike a Martin cab where the horn can be over twice the length of a Turbo. All these things things make a difference when your ten feet away from them. (only an observation).

This is true but I think it's mainly the bandpass 'ness' of the Turbo type cabs I don't like the sound of.  They have a very distinctive sound.

For short throw work I like a well designed reflex box.  Just like the 18Sound loaded ones I've done recently. Wink Actually got my first commercial order for some of my cabs!  Only a pair but it's a start towards getting back all the money I've spent on drivers and wood the past couple of years!

Sorry for dragging the thread off topic btw...
