what are people's thoughts on how to value or price second hand drivers.
i've just never really known how to value used, but working drivers, from the perspective of buying, or selling. |

18,s. XB £125. Below xb 100. V1000 £165. 1850mk2 £175.
That's my pennies worth. New Thomann 18 is 120, New PAudio 600 is 135. So people wanting more than 100 for Emmi etc not realistic. |

Mint condition....maybe half the cost new.
One third of cost new (mint) for obscure,or lower end budget drivers. Scruffy,or well worn but working...maybe a quarter of cost new for top brands. A few quid each for obscure brands. |

Things are worth whatever someones willing to pay. And the going rate is what the majority pay. 18 xbs 186 used to be 90-110 now theyre like 125-140. Pd1850 silverbk £200 all day long. V18 1000s 150-175, 15xbs and PDs £100 110, pd123ers £100. Even some pd 10s still getting 100 used.

^ This would be for modern drivers of course.
Once you get beyond 25 years old, it's pretty much whatever someone is willing to pay for them...and of course you end up with some daft plonker asking five grand for a pair of scratchy old Tannoy drivers because he once believed they belonged to Elvis's uncles half-sister. |

25% to 75% of new retail price depending on age and condition, and how sought after they are.

How would you see the value of some dead ones? If you are selling good ones for £200 each, the recone kits seem to be about £175 + carriage, doesn't leave the actual driver any great value at all, £20-ish? Probably less, given the time/labour to fit the kit. |

If the suspension spacer is in tact RMJ does a cheaper very strong job 112 plus vat.
So 112 plus vat, 132.40 plus 24 in couriers leaves around 40 quid in basket worth. Mind you that's essentially a new driver and those of us that have had his work know its damn good, so maybe 60/70 for a basket. Question is is the the person selling the basket capable of packing it to avoid magnet damage? As with a lot of his own coil type re-cones they seem almost stronger than the original to me. T/S another matter of course, but in a horn........just a piston innit :) (coat on) |
