The 575 at's were better than the 575 xt's, kind of touring vs club range, better build quality, probably applies to the little ones too

What lights do you have Sam? I find it hard getting my head around it but I can only just do the basics and chamsys isnt the easiest to use apparently. But at the moment just doing the basics is enough for me, but I will endeavour to learn more in the coming months, ie actually programming a scene, chase, and this macro stuff!! (What the hell is a macro!!????)
Cheers, Jas

I don't think I've ever created a macro to date. I use some of the head specific ones such as lamp on/off but thats about it. you can make it as complex or simple as you choose, and that doesn't necessarilly mean that a simple approach = bad show.

For a busked show, one of the best things I ever learnt was stacking fx on a playback so you can cycle through them using GO/PAUSE rather than chasing. Very efficient use of playbacks.

Also, once you've configured the desk setup as you like it, you can save this as a default. I have mine on a stick now in case I'm ever in front of another desk that isn't mine. It means things like colour schemes, verification on change/delete, multi select items, etc are as you like them, rather than as someone else likes them (or default settings) without actually changing the nature of the show/patch

Macros are basically automated key presses or fader actions, very handy for speeding up things where you would normally be crunching the keys. You can use them to do very clever things with your desk layout and putting things at your fingertips at the right moment, making your show slicker. Head macros are kinda similar, one key press to send out data on a couple of control channels for a certain time period

I'm afraid I'm at the basic end with 6x PR Pilot 150s, 2x Imove 250s, 4x Abstract 150 Scanners, 2 strobes, and some pars.

That's a fair bit of lighting that can look real good if controlled well.
Norty and James seem to be the experts in this field and I would love to learn more and more. Sometimes just the terminology used is confusing! Guys do a SP tutorial !! l would pay to learn

With my lighting (6 fixtures) I simply control them as Ive already said in the simplest way. TBH I dont even move the lighting too much (much to the amusement of many I'm sure)  but change the colours and gobos and do the effects as and when. I hate lighting that moves too quick, I much prefer a mover moving slowly, almost sweeping the intended area or simply just static. My biggest hate is fast sound to light movements of lighting that disco Dave discos tend to have!

One of the simplest and coolest lighting productions I saw recently was this at Koko, Camden. Yes I know some of the stuff on the multi million £ shows on TV is breathtaking (Strictly and crap factor) but I like the simplistic approach too. The heads at the gig, below, didn't move much either IIRC from my limited view point at the back of the venue :(

This is why I sorta suggested my place. It's fairly easy to get to via public transport, have a projector screen and projectors for on screen stuff, have some lighting kit and no time restrictions and a largish warm hall with high ceilings.

Call it the Sunday sessions, or rather the Monday Masterclass lol.

But basically a show and tell/workshop/demo for the more techy stuff, less boom boom my speakers are badass my dick is bigger show down.
