Hi,

Would it make much difference?
What would I be loosing compared to the PD1850 appart from the 100watts difference?

Thanks

true-
i heard 2 1850 horns loaded with pd186- they weren't that bad- but very ineffecient-

build/get built some 186 horns and chuck some PD186's in, i only heard 2- but if u get 4 they will be lots of fun...

just use the 186 horn loaded with pd186 or even better if you can stretch a little v-18 [void] in 1850.....
seriusly though... the pd186 in a 186 horn will be a hundred times better than a pd186 in a 1850 horn.....
the only difference between the boxes is the rear chamber size being suitable for the said drivers......
putting the pd186 in an 1850 horn will be effectively sabbatage of your own gear...
why make something and deliberately make it not work properly????

I think this might be a case of so that he can say 'I've got some 1850's'  rather than 'I've got some 186's'

Unless of course Ste already owns/has bought some unloaded 1850's and wants to know cheaper alternatives.

yeh, i build the 1850 and need to buy the driver so was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative but would give the same sort of punch and quality.

Well nothing will punch like the 1850, and if you wanted quality you should have built the 186 instead.

So most if not all other drivers will give less punch, but you may get slightly better quality.

Void V-1000 is a popular choice, although not too sure on availability at the moment.  Not a huge amount cheaper than the 1850 though.
