Next test with the TurboMax 1200 loaded correctly this time, hopefully within the next two months when our V18-1200's reach Sth London.

Don't forget how it looks, as Levy's picture with his phone wasn't clear enough ...

Think I'll be fitting & leaving the v18-1000's in the RX18's Levy, & more than likely, the more powerful v18 & T/max will stay in shortmans full scoops for now.

What you reckon bout that ? I know you shouldn't mix 'n' match drivers like sweeties, but in this case, it has to be done till a later time.

Yes V18-1200 loved the full scoop, but did you try the V18-1000 in the Shortman Heavyweight Mini's?

We know it is "luve'ly" in the RX18, but was suprised to hear it wasn't right in MR Ultimate cab.

What's the chamber size/back panel in there chief?
How about a picture of cab unloaded.

To help you with your sweeties problem, I might buy few of your v18-1000's, so you can convert fully to 1850's or 1200's.

Regards.

Congratulations on your Scoop listening test.

For your next test, I would recommend you make a few changes to make it fair among all boxes. For example;

That little box sitting in the middle (That I circled lavender) has an edge over all the boxes because it is sitting directly in the middle of the line up. Those boxes sitting next to it will act like a boundary (Enable it to deliver more bass) and trigger the other cabinet to prorogate bass. When I used to own Scoops, that line up would always have the cabinet in the middle delivering the most bass while the ones on the farthest end offering the least.

Also. That box (Which I circled green) has an edge due to the mid high cabinets sitting directly above it. If the cabinets were on during the test, you may feel the box circled in green sounded the best. It would be due to the mid high cabinets sitting directly above it in which they (Highs, Mid, and, Lows) are all working as a team. It also seems to have a shorter distance to the brick wall compared to the other cabinets having the metal shutter behind them.

To make it fair, you should have one box sitting in the middle of the room with no boundaries around it. That will give you a better representation on how it really sounds with no aid from the other boxes or boundaries around it.

Best Regards,

I thought as it was the shortest/smallest it wouldn't really matter.

They were not on during the test & they were all tested individually. Only near the ending I connected a couple of the most powerful sounding ones together so we all could hear more bass.
The cab on the end you've circled in green wasn't in this test, as mentined before, it hasn't got the guts of a proper scoop in it, it's basically just a box.

Cheers for all your points Elliot, think we'll have to take them into consideration next time.

Not on that night/morning, but we normally play that combination all the time in fours.

Wrong info they gave you there, they just didn't give it a chance & elimated it early. It sounds very close to the RX18, trust me. The chambers are very similar. It's that good, I've never taken the v18-1000 out of it since I first loaded it & heard it.

I think you better phone Ultimate Sounds first.

Remember I gave you that opportunity a while back for a pair & you blew it!    but more will rise up as usual.
Waiting from a call from JTS to see if he has any more over in East London. If he has, you still want them, or one of them ?

It actually makes a sizable difference because the tall box next to it acts like a wall as far as the small box is concerned.

Went to a christening on Sunday in a fairly large hall in Crystal Palace where a mate of mine was using 2 of Shortman's Mini-Scoops loaded with v18-1000's.
They were driven with a Peavey CS4000 (One on each channel) & JTS pre-amp.

He shocked everyone in the place & himself with the performance of the two small cabs, & has decided to go one better & will be ordering 2 x v18-1200's in a couple weeks time.  & will also be ordering a couple more of the Minis. Watch out for the next test - We want to hear what 4 can do.

Hey Tek, watch out... You might get put in detention for telling people the dangerous scoop/driver combo's like I did.

Next weekend I'm looking to buy 2x V18-1000's, if you have any..
And I'm not telling anyone what they're for..

by the way, all you scoop lovers, now that we have completed the first batch of RXjnr's, which contain a deep cavity, we are now making the first RX 18 with the same cavity. Watch this space.

Lev. If you mean the RXjnr. It has a chamber that is twice as deep as the RX 18. But it is 18" shorter. I finished painting the jnr's today so I will post pictures on monday before they dissapear.

I read into that as...Don't Ramp!
