Some great finds app.
Some of these photos bring nostalgia and laughter of how man used whatever resources they had or could put their hand on to build a sound.
Some with pretty lights and big bold graphics on the amp cases and boxes, so one know who one was tuning into, to the most odd looking enclosure designs and carvings on grills. What I have to love is the imagination, passion and work some of these guys put into making their sound-system a reality. Back then getting and putting the component parts together wasn't easy as one, two, three. It was about making the connections and knowing a man, who know a man, who know a man who can build, get hold of..., put together, etc...etc By today's standards some of these sounds look, and may sound somewhat primitive, and there are some who are working to push betterment of sound in the brackets of sound-system culture, but glad these photos exist to give, esp reggae sound system culture in England, a context of what people did and the influence that make people live this thing be they now operators, selectors, builders, producers, engineers and so forth... |
