scratching my head on this one

my wifi on laptop keeps disconecting at home and i have no idea- i have full service around my flat
so its not that.

any ideas?

do other wireless devices stay connected? what make is the router?

its possible someone next door has one of those routers that hogs as many of the 16 allocated frequencies as possible in order to provide them with extra speed..

should certainly try a different router for a bit, consumer level wifi is generally barely up to any spec

did you try experimenting with operationg your router on different wireless channels?

Is the wireless located near any strong magnetic devices (fridge/tv/etc..)?

Is there any heavy outside work taking place in your area?

Does it happen during certain times of day, for the exact duration of time?


Answers may help us pinpoint your issue.

Download netstumbler and see if any other access points are broadcasting on the same channel as you. If so change your channel in your router config.
