hi there ,

plan to build 4ea of those W single 18 sub bins in addition to my new girls -

http://https://www.oberton.com/bg/%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%B8/%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B8/79-%D1%81%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F-%D1%82/303-t1581. - http://https://www.oberton.com/bg/%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%B8/%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B8/79-%D1%81%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F-%D1%82/303-t1581.html

full range horn loaded bought 4 of them so my idea is to match them with some suitable subs , 2ea W bins on a side underneath of 2ea T1581

got 4ea sigma pro 18 drivers ready to be fitted in some efficient  subs

what is your opinion ?

regards

I used the Keele/JBL design 18-W for many shows in the late 80s and early 90s. 4 to 8 units depending on Show. These delivered Chest pounding Bass...........................VECTORSONICS.

But no real sub unfortunately.
Were 4818's shines most is well in the region that the 15" in that Oberton covers.

Some double 15" or 18" BR or 6th order BP. Like G-Sub, X1 etc ....
Look at the 18Sound, B&C, ... websites for designs, lots and lots that could fit your particular needs.

Peter-jan summed it up perfectly. the W-bins are loud and honk like hell but no real lows to be found.

I disagree with the other posters. The 18-w Bins I used were really tuned (Fb) to 35 Hz. All inside wood joints were coated with epoxy resin and extra bracing, the doors were sealed with silicone, the woofers were Fane 18XB, each one was feed 1000 watts....My Friend did sound for Disco Funk Band "Motor Booty"....I filled in often...When using 8 units in up to 500 person Clubs the BASS was awesome....CHEST POUNDING...

Nice tops

Do you mean this wbin?

Doesn't go very low..... only 46 Hz. Ouch

Sigma pro 18 is ok, low fs, adequate BL, 0,29 qts

Maybe simple single or double reflex would be better and go lower?
4818 will be louder, but not go low enough.

If you can go bigger and are not afraid of a complicated box, you could build Berthas, or Emeralds (half Bertha, single 18). Not sure if the Sigma would survive abuse in that horn thoughShocked

Maybe do some googling, keywords "eminence sigma pro 18" and "bass reflex......

Reading some topics it seems that sigma pro 18 is not very good despite low fs. It doesnt have enough xmax to reach under 40 Hz.

Wht kind of music do you play? Check with an rta app if there is bass below 45 hz in the music, maybe it is better to sell sigma pro 18 and save for better sub drivers.

Where is Marjan when you need him? LOL

Nothing wrong with those W bins, loud enough, really punchy and they definitely play lower than you would think when coupled, they also play high enough to meet  a simple mid top, how much sub do you want? X1 lol, not very low, loud ish and a very narrow band  usual 6th order problems  ohh and not very kind on drivers.
