I've been offered a Wharfedale MP2800 for £150 in mint condition I figured if it's any good I might use it as a backup to my QSC RMX4050HD amps, anyone have any experience with these? They look cheap as hell i'm wondering if I bridge it into 4 ohms on one of my subs and it does good I might look for another so I have two backups just in case my RMX4050HD amps go down at an event.

What would you say the bridged 4 ohm power is like for subs? The transformer looks quite beefy, I wonder if it would do close to 2,800 into 4 bridged. I guess if it can output 2,200 continuous average power into 4 ohms bridged it should be quite good.

I have the 2800s version, it's very powerful and I have used it in 4ohm bridge to drive two 18tbx100 (1200w) in scoops without it worrying at all. Even does a decent job in stereo.

Theyre much better than the new cpd series and the rrp is alot higher. Around 599 at the moment.

I've seen a lot of these through the workshop over the years. Not a favourite of mine, difficult to work on and the build quality leaves something to be desired IMHO
