I'm currently keeping all my cables for a 4 top 8 sub system in a range of plastic boxes, which is not ideal at all from an organisational stand point, and was wondering what people generally use for moving their cables around. Spending £400 on a huge flight case with dividers seems like it might be a bit overkill.
Would something like two pelican cases, one for speaker cable and one for line level and power cables work? Whatever it is should ideally be wheeled and fairly sturdy for easy transport. Lightweight is a bonus too for 1 man loading into and out of vans.

Eurocrates and really useful boxes, I'm waiting for the RUBs to break so I can replace them all with euro boxes.

Really useful boxes. Mix of normal and extra strong, but they're still not great.
You got any decent lids for the euro crates sam? Thats what put me off them.

I also use eurocrates, normally they are empty and I only fill them with what is needed when I need the gear.

We mostly use flightcase cable trunks with dividers and trays, but they're no good for stairs / no tail lift. We also have cable bags, made from heavy duty PVC, for little one person lift jobs, or the plastic crates with interlocking lids, these seem to be the most durable. A peli case big enough to use as a cable trunk will cost big £, possibly one of the many peli knock offs might be viable.

My rule was "if its not in the cable trunk it is not here!!" (remember that sinking feeling?,"where's the ...... cable? erm...about 200miles away....) But otherwise you cant beat these for £15 Attached Lid Container - 55L - TOTE 55BK Great as "mission pods" stack inside each other for storage ,plus wheel board =perfect.used by most distribution companys for stock ..

You can get used tote boxes all over the place. just search 'used tote boxes' and find someone...eg http://www.recohandling.com/Used-Tote-Boxes-For-Sale.html If you need something stronger/larger/ more hard wearing, these are great: picked up a bunch second hand a while ago, ex military/UN, worth keeping an eye out...

I use sports equipment bags, 1 bag for Signal cables (XLR/RCA etc), 1 for Power & 2 for Speaker cables. I just don't have the van space to be putting them all into a hard flightcase, in bags you can squash them in between other stuff and use them to hold stuff in place during transit.
