i'm making an educated guess that music playback is not a key part of
your requirements, keeping with the simplicity of a single amp without recourse to faffing around with active crossovers you will probably be after a compact 12"+1" monitor style box. the smaller drivers are better suited to the vocal work that will be the majority of your program material, although here i make some assumption. if you don't have to reproduce the bass of recorded music (which you could consider doing with a nice small active sub for the size of audience) you are freed up to use as small as a 10" or possibly less. i don't really see any plans on this site that are ideally suited, unfortunately i can't find the link for the beyma construction book that i have printed out at home. the design i was thinking might be attractive was for an 8" coaxial driver (compression driver incorporated on the back of the cone), makes for a very compact and simple box and they would carry vocal information with aplomb. coaxial drivers have specific passive crossovers recommended for them which will take the hassle out of getting the balance right between drivers. how does that take your fancy? james. |

A pair of X15's davbow1 should go for, as that is an all-round 2 way fullrange enclosure. Stand up comedy would be mostly speech but the male voice sounds good if its a bit bassy. Also if he wants effects or a musical intro etc for the audience he need something with a bit of bass.So a pair X15's would suit him the best.
