I've acquired 4 wsx bins and 3 working drivers (plus one with a burnt coil). Roy doesn't have a good word for the void driver "avoid the void" were his exact words! with a recone kit at £200 and none for sale new I'm looking for a different option to put in my boxes. I've also got a pair of x1s (unloaded) and was thinking of using the wsx outside and then sticking the v18-1000s in the x1s when I need a rig for indoors. What are people sticking in these instead of the void drivers?

Some people will load WSX with wrong drivers, so maybe better looking for posts on what works in them.
I've been looking at WSX for almost 2x decades. Maybe worth trying B&C 18DS100, but check data sheet, regarding cutout and driver depth. Also consider loading cab with PD1852, also checking the above. My last, least favored option, would be B&C 18TBX 100. ![]() Edited by levyte357- - 06 January 2026 at 9:42am |

Thanks for this, I was hoping to get some insight from someone with your sort of experience. I've done a fair bit of digging, but lots of the posts are old, and obviously not factoring in that the void driver is becoming rather hard to come by, and limited reconing options. I thought I would see if there are any modern drivers which have taken over the baton of the 'WSxtra' driver of choice. I'll take a look at the 18DS100 and see what others might suggest.

Fair point! I felt like that was going backwards rather than forwards. The voids have a great reputation to be superior to the RCFs but perhaps they would be enough. I wasn't sure if there was a newer design that would work well as both the RCF and Void are pretty old drivers. I want to be sure whatever direction I go in, I'll be able to replace and repair when needed. I did speak with Blue Aran, and they suggest the voids will be back in stock soon, so might not be quite the end of the line for the voids.

Oberton 18XB1500V2 is the closest to Void V18-1000 if I'm not mistaken

That was the OG WSX, the later WSXa came with the B&C 18TBX100 driver which is definitely better than the L18P300. The Void is supposed to be better than the 18TBX100 again but I have never used them in a WSX in the wild so cant comment on that. WSX Definitely work best in a stack of 6 but remember their long term power handling is pretty low because the chamber heats up and then they die from thermal overload. |
