The different horn shapes are (approximations of) different profiles which are said to have different characteristics...though there's a lot of discussion and differences of opinion on what kind of horn flare is best for different freq. bands..
The straighter, selenium style horn would be a "conical horn" (as you can see..they are approximations as the actual profile is square not conical).. It has constant expansion toward the mouth.
The MT horn is exponential, with increased rate of expansion towards the mouth..
I suggest you google (or search the forum) for mpore detailed explanations/opinions on the difference between different horn profiles.
