Has surely been covered in the past but are there any new contenders that might be worth a try?

Mixing sizes wouldnt make sense so maybe divide in 3 different sections according to application?
1 - hf 1200ish up - above small cones + suitable horns
2- hf 800ish up - above bigger, rather fullrange cab dedicated cones + suitable horns
3- 400ish up - for special projects + suitable horns

Please discuss without getting too leaned towards manufacturers but what your ears hear ;)

for me there should be a section for the tiny but sweet sounding 1" like nsd1095 (2khz up)

other then that, heard the BMS 4592 again today (active xover 700 / 6300 hz) and must say, it was brilliant.

You are right Corell, there should be a fourth section like you said..

BMS coax are in there own league i guess, dont know of many other options in that wide passband
Love the ones in Tonys F412Ms, keep up with ease, almost indestructable but tend to sound a little aggressive at high volumes, some eq needed to keep within pleasant behaviour imo.
Off axis response is not very even but could be the horns aswell, didnt compare to others yet.
(crossed over at 820hz on a Paudio 90x50 flare which only loads down to little less than 800 according to smaart. passively crossed internally due to ease of setup)

Currently basically interested in 1" comps that could be crossed 1.2khz up and need to keep up properly with one hornloaded 12" with ease :)

Other than that happy if you lot discuss about whichever comps you want!
Just thought its about time to start getting back to this forums intention - open, honest discussions...

Beyma CD10fe. Sweet.

Although my favorite 1" was the CP350ti, much sweeter than the 380m

They will sound however you want them to sound. That is why you use the dsp right?

+1 For the nsd1095. It's the most expensive one 18sound do for a reason. Proper.

I ran mine from about 1.6k though as I remember. I didn't sell them. One day they'll get a new cab to go in; something smaller than a 12 though. For 1" I had BMS 4544 for some time before that and B&C DE16s. The BMS was happiest at a low crossover but I think the B&C and 18sound were better if you could stretch the cone up higher.

For now I'm really liking the Faital HF144 crossed at 1.2k to a BMS 12N620. Not as much tzzz as the 18sound but smooth sounding and with much more attack for snares (maybe because it's crossed lower). Never taken plots of anything. I just twiddle knobs until it sounds right to me. lol

I think Marjan is right. Based on my experiences of the 4544 the 4550 should be the one as its suited to a bit lower crossover. Tony W told me that he preferred the sound of the 4544 above the 4550 but they're meant for different things so horse for courses etc. .
