Use horns. 4 1850 or 4 186 horns for bass and 4 MT122 or 4 MT102 or 4 Porn Horns for mid/highs. Power the bass bins with 1 amp, the 12 inchers with another amp and the 2 inch comp driver with a third amp. As the compression drivers are quite low wattage you can get away using a Behringer EP1500 [costs not much at all] or smaller amp on it. Use a Behringer EP2500 [if your on a low budget] otherwise the Void infinite 5 on the mids. And something like Void infinte 8 on the bass. BTW: Put a suitable polyproplene capacitor for highs in series[ on the + terminal as close to the driver as possible] on the compression driver incase some idiot connects the wrong connection and amp to your compression drivers. Also a capacitor helps stop any turn on thumps or DC offsets from blowing the highs. Thats the only passive component I'd use on a 3 way actively crossed over system.

Iīve done some thinking and I think Iīm gonna go for the MT102s but with P.Audio E10 200 A for mid and P.Audio PH 2723-horns loaded with P.Audio BM D750. You think that will work?? As for the horns I think Iīm gonna go for the 1850s loaded with Void 18"s. So, four 1850s and four MT102s? Think they will work together?? As for amps I can only say that my experience with equipment from Behringer is least to say bad!! I bought a compressor once and it worked ONE TIME, then it died so I got a new one on guarantee and that was dead straight from the box!!!! So Iīve looked at more cheap amps and seen the B-stock Numark amps at www.whybuynew.com Has anybody had any experience with Numarks amps?? |

Numark amps are poorly built and sound crap in my opinion. Go for Audiohead /C-Mark /T. Amp instead then. |

I still ask for an opinion of what you think of the speakercombination I mentioned above! I wrote: ""Iīve done some thinking and I think Iīm gonna go for the MT102s but with P.Audio E10 200 A for mid and P.Audio PH 2723-horns loaded with P.Audio BM D750. Think that will work?? Think they will work together??"" @ToXiC: Is it just me or are the Audiohead amps and the T.Amps the same?? Certainly looks like identical amps to me! |

C-mark/t.amp/ audiohead amps are all roughly the same design and look. BTW: P. Audio E10-200A is crap with 1mm xmax Why not use Eminence Kappa Pro 10 or Beyma 10 M 250 or RCF L10 P510 that the design suggests?

I looked at the forum for different drivers in the MT102 and someone suggested the p10-100mb and p10-100mb, I checked them out and I noticed the low X-max too,the p10-100mb only had 0.5mm X-max By the way, the suggested Beyma and RCF drivers are a bit hard to get so, Iīll have to go for the Eminence-driver then, but my thought was to get some cheaper driver to save some cash. The P. Audio E10-200A is 43.5 Ģ cheaper than Kappa Pro 10 so I would save 8*43.5=348Ģ !! Since my goal was to get a lot of bang for buck and since my school didnīt have a whole lot o cash I had to go for the cheaper driver(wich somebody already had suggested). Do you see some other mid-driver that is cheaper than the Kappa 10" and still would handle fine?? |

I meant: "the P. Audio E10-200A and the p10-100mb" and that "so I went for the P. Audio E10-200A" in the post above.

Don't judge the Behringer amps on the basis of your previous experience of their other kit. The EP series amps are some of their 'good stuff'. Yet to hear of a serious breakage. I owned one, and i know of many others who own them and like them (and rag the arse off em week in week out). They're at least as good as any other budget kit out there. |

First off: ToXiC : STFU.
The E10-200A has horn written all over it in a big way. ~30 gm Mms while not the lowest is not to be scoffed at (light weight means higher mass roll-off, though the motor also plays a role). Choose the right driver for the right app. A longer horn will allow you to get away with a lower crossover. ALso the Beyma driver is unfortunately no longer avilable to the best of my knowledge. 2xfs/Qes = 756Hz, i.e. really high output up top. This is a design trade-off where more magnetic flux is concentrated over the coil (resulting in lower Xmax but more output up top) Model it up in hornresp and decide for yourself. Perhaps phone the distributor and ask them about suitability to the application. BMD-D750: while not the most refined 2" driver ever (likely "inspired" by an old B&C with a similar name) will be loud and on the right horn it also couples well. Investigate the BM-D740 and the 18Sound 1.4" Waveguide (I know of one person using it in the MT122 with good results) Enjoy Martin Edit... Edited by Timber_MG - 11 February 2006 at 2:31pm |
