Got this new gas solder iron made by ferm ,
Now it was filled when i got it but last week it ran out , I bought gas , the gas came with little heads , one of witch kinda fits but its hard to know if its the right fit . Now iv tried filling it , cant really tell if its going in but it doesnt seem to be as nothing is coming out the top when turned on . Would it be because im using cheaper gas? It says on the ebay add where i bought it that it will work on any lighter gas . ![]() heres the bottom , iv tried opening what looks like the valve , still no good . ![]() ![]() |

when it does fill you will hear a whooshing type noise as it fills [gas transfer], sounds like the fill kit isn't connecting too the thing. I have found this with many lighter refill kits, trying to refill lights.... only 1/10 actually work
![]() looks like a nice piece of kit, very handy to throw in the toolbox! |

I had this with mine just try different ends and also without one also try holding it open as you do it but be careful not to hit the igniter.

mine's the same, it won't fill with any of the supplied ends. Just push the bare nozzle square against the fill valve on the iron.
Don't think the gas will be faulty, butane is butane. I have used every type and they all work...clipper, swan, ronson, london, etc |

Also make sure that gas can and soldering iron are upside down when filling. Silly comment ... but you never know

Same here with my gas jobbie. Bare nozzle into your iron, you should hear the hissing as the gas transfers as ginge mentioned. no noise its not filling, gas spraying everywhere (lol) no filling.

i had a gas iron that failed once... i mailed the manufacturer and i got a reply telling me that they only rated certain brands of butane.. so eh.. according to him. butane is not just butane.
not the same brand as discosucks' one there. i'll try and find the mail.. |

There's normally a little window somewhere so you can see if it's full.
As has been said, the can should be inverted (nozzle down) when filling. You may need to press quite hard to open the valve. The brand name on the gas refill shouldn't matter. |

Maybe the output on mine is blocked then , as I think gas has gone in at some stage . cant see how that would have happened though , guess I will have to dismantle it haha .
