If you don't know what UEFI is, wiki it, don't ask here.

For the rest, have any hardware freaks thought about this yet?

Will 8' certified hardware allow UEFI to be disabled?

Will Pre 8'  hardware run 8' ?

Yup, thought about it and if I ever buy new Hardware will be certain it has no Key installed.

Apparently a UEFI M$ key can be uninstalled, but reclaiming the M$ Tax together with the additional time to have a PC up and running with a Linux/UNIX/BSD etc distro isn't really viable on additional cost so any hardware with M$ pre-installed would be most likely rejected!
What may happen for dual-boot systems is another matter, but again an M$ TAX is unacceptable
Linky: to recent interview with Linus Torvalds

The point about end owner access to remove or add keys is of interest if the MB Manufacturers all pick it up

As to Windoze 8 on older Hardware without UEFI or older versions of Windoze on UEFI platforms - well that's for M$ and Hardware manufacturers to sort out

Should have included this link to: "Windoze 8 Dual Boot Possible....".

Anyway UEFI has already been hacked, try a search for "UEFI hack"

So much for M$ recommendations to use it as a security thing......

Microsoft have said that any PC running Windows Vista or 7 will run Widows 8.

I have not yet tested Windows 8, but have tested Windows Server 2012 (aka Windows Server 8) on non UEFI hardware and it installed and ran fine.

Although have to say I hate the new desktop, it really sucks, and I am not taking about the touch screen Metro interface, but the good old Windows desktop.

Ray
something here on SLIC

Appears only time needed before all previous versions have been broken, so more than likely this new version with Windoze 8 won't take long.....

Anyway, the SLIC thing only increases M$ TAX revenue

Read that 10m ago... LOL

My experience of OEM activation is, if you have popular OEM manufactured PC, like DELL, numerous hardware freaks/hackers, will be working day & night to "properly" remove it. Wink
