Hey guys ,

Just looking for a new laser for my soundsystem and found this on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/370mW-Twin-Red-Blue-Violet-Pink-Laser-Show-UK-Stock_W0QQitemZ380184682815QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ConElec_LightingLEDsStrobes_RL?hash=item5884c5e13f#ht_6161wt_1167

As it is chinese it has got me curious.

What do you think as far as quality? Price ? Reliability ?

Thanks for any comments.

That's a fair bit of laser power for that price, does make you wonder about quality etc.

It is DMX compatible, but if I was getting a laser today it would have to be both DMX compatible and also be able to work with a proper laser program (Pangolin). Lasers like all proper lights look so much better when run by a program/person then just sound to light.

Personally I would not get it, but that's just my own opinion. Though I do like the colour mix it makes, very nice.
It's all about the music & the vibe, so enjoy it while you can.

Probably no point even using a proper laser program, the scanners are only stepper motors!

The 'blues' are bluray diodes at 405nm which puts them on the verge of UV. As such they are virtually invisible. 405nm is good for adding some colour depth in RGB projectors used for graphics projection, but next to useless for beam shows (which is all stepper motors will manage)

If you want a cheap laser to play around with it'll be ok, but not very impressive. Reliability wise, its just diodes so as long as they are running conservative voltages (maybe) and are well heatsinked (less likely at the price) they should last for a reasonable time.

I've got the quad beam, the dpss diodes will very quckly loose power and well they're not as bright or as cool as you'd hoped. The motors are crap and it makes one hell of a racket lol. If you're going to go with cheap lasers go with greens as they'll be brighter and more impressive for the money.

I'm currently building up my new laser :) I can't wait.
