xp restore issues

   So after running sp3 update xp falls over, freeze after welcome screen or at mup.sys in safe mode.
 So much faffing later created a sp3 boot disc, opt for repair existing installation of windows 
whirr whizz Xp restarts and somehow it has restored an Xp install from 2011.  

No sign of last weeks desktop or any restore points backups or anything else.. 

Most mysterious 

Does anyone ken where it might be ?
