Would be interesting having discussion about these, in dedicated thread, as there are differing opinions.
Anyone ever heard group of these in a gig, and were suitably impressed? IIRC, only person recently was RealitySound in Bermuda. I'm assuming not many people impressed with 21" Super scooper with PD2150, as don't hear much about it. What 21" Drivers have people tried in various "Scoops", did anyone here ever try the original ASS 21" scoop in group of 2x or 4x? Anyone successfully powered 4x 21" Scoops off 1x amp? Heard Volcano blew few 21s & couple of Crown MA5000VZs trying to do this. Do people think 21" scoops would be too heavy to move around on regular basis? Would people "upgrade" to 21" Midi scoops, if they outperformed 18" Full scoops? Are there any 21" drivers that are decent, & don't cost the earth? Tony which driver is your new 21" Scoop optimised for ? Play nicely, chaps. Edited by levyte357- - 17 January 2014 at 4:03pm |

Lev the first thing I found with 21's and 24's is dont expect them to work the same as a 18... for example you would not compare a 15 to an 18..... the bigger the driver the more low end longer horn path etc so they become more sub bass 20hz to 30hz, but at the loss of high end. I would not want to take a 21 or 24 above 80hz.... but both will play low 20hz with ease..... Volcano ended up modding there original 21's as they did keep blowing, due to the over large throat area.... Edited by bee - 17 January 2014 at 4:05pm |

Yep, would expect 21" driver to not have the speed of an 18", so limited upper sub notes response, which isn't really a problem, if you have 15"/18" Kick bins.
I know fair bit about the Volcano 21" scoops, but cannot say anything here. |

plus 1, lol got 2 in the lock up, even the modded ones are still a bit on the large side.... if you run the 21's like an 18 you will run into trouble, you have to go with a different approach, the need for good high bass (kicks) is a must.... Edited by bee - 17 January 2014 at 4:37pm |

Well it seems Volcano's 21's are getting about
My friend has 4 of Volcano's 21's atm and apparently 4 more in the next month or 2. Been interested to find out who built them or just some history on them, if either of you know some anything about them would be nice to get some history on them :) There currently being loaded with 21" P-Audio SD21 1800EL (i believe), loaded 2 up but one of the drivers had a scratchy noise, is on its way back and 3 more on the way soon to get all 4 loaded and running. |

If money were no object, I know of a certain 21" that would probably do the business in a properly built scoop. I think the price would make the average roots man choke though

Bad enough paying almost £400 for new PD 18s, new PD2150 cost approx £560.. But sure, people don't mind paying approx £250 used for 21" like PD2150. |
