outside no, inside yes
don't carpet the inside, it looks silly and will affect the sound. to what extent, im not sure, but just don't do it, because there's no reason to. stevek (check the readers projects page) has the right idea - if you must carpet, just do the outside, and paint the inside normally. |

If the carpet is thin and dense you may get away with carpet on the inside, to match that of the outside. Try a piece inside the horn to see if it makes any difference before you glue any down. Even if it does make a small change to the sound, it may benefit from looking better, whilst still sounding pretty good.

If the punters think it looks good, they are more likely to think it sounds good. You can have the best system in the world, but if it looks shodily made (with Philip's profession I'd expect it to be meticulous), that will be the impression people make.
