Yes. AB International went through numerous transitions throughout the decades. Their best version was the ones that stated "AB Systems." They were introduced in the late 1970's to the mid 1980's. The AB International name change (among-st other things) were introduced in the late 1980's to mid 1990's. The last I've heard about AB, it was owned by some High End Audio company with a High End Price to match. And of course, it is no longer called AB International. That was around 20 years ago.
The ones that stated AB International (Later Models) would offer a lot of idle heat whereas, the AB Systems would leave you wondering if it was actually on as it offered no idle heat. That is comparing the exact model numbers. The designs were different as the AB Systems used an E - Core Transformer whereas, the AB International used a Toroidal Transformer. In addition to the differential in Transformers, the AB Systems used RCA Semiconductors whereas, AB International used Toshiba Semiconductors. The Peavey GPS Series was the only amplifier made by Crest when, Peavey bought them. Peavey bought Crest solely to get in the Touring Market. However, so many people (In the States) had issues with the Crest CA Series, no one was willing to take the risk despite, Peavey had an excellent reputation of low failure amplifiers. And, the Professional Series proprietary parts were showing their age. The original designers from Crest started out from BGW. Best Regards,
