I use SN12MB in some designs
I feed them with 950W per pair, and they love it ![]() |

thanks for the comments
as i said, i'm not trying to make a really really loud concert cab here, just something thats compact, fairly cheap, buildable and sounds good. I chose the 6" because its easier to get it to go high without a fiberglass phase bung - perhaps it wont be loud enough and i'l have to try an 8". Its a 12" because a 15" wont fit in this trap config and will struggle more to play high enough. I'l post the hornresp plots and you can take a look. i gues I wont know how it sounds though until i get buildin Mykey, have you had a look at the RCF 8" mid range neo sealed back driver? If i was going to make a fiberglass mid range horn i would use that driver! pricey though- which is why i haven't used it here. |

Good work!
Have you done much work on the 6" section yet? Just wondering why you chose a conical horn? It'll be much easier to construct, but does it not lose a lot of low end? I looked at that eminence driver a while ago, but it seems difficult to get hold of in the UK, like all the other suitable 6" drivers. What sort of compression ratio are you looking at? Kieran |

Oh yea, i knew that, i've just got 2 at home already so may aswell try with those. The low mid section should work with many different drivers. I've modeled some of the eminence neos and rcfs etc.

Looking good davey, reminds me of the FK1 RES2 a lot.
What is the divider in the mid horn for, is it to reduce the wavelength of throat reflections? Or is it just to hold the phaze plug? Rogs has a similar centre divider in his stasys horns, ive always wonderd what its purpose was. |

looks nice,
the closed back alpha 8mr i think? may keep up a bit better, if you needed more power. rounding over the edges of your conical horn for mouth/ baffle correction will help reduce high order modes, if going conical it could be worth trying out an oblate spheroid, or make your own to achieve smoother off axis directivity.. i too am making my mid tops atm, but its kinda too late for me to try out le cleach or spheroid flares i been reading up about, but may be of interest to you though. |
