Hi, I currently run a tri amp system  so my HF Horns are in separate cabs to my mids. Currently I have a bunch of pizeos sat on top of my mid cabs (please see pic below of top cabs), as you can probably  guess I want to upgrade to comp drivers. As there aren’t really any HF Box designs out there, I believe this is due to the box design not mattering I’m looking for some inspiration, so if you don’t mind please show off your HF boxes.

Um, no, basically. If anything, HF arraying and horn choice is one of the most important aspects of a system!

I can understand that horn choice is important but what about the physical box that houses the HF horn itself? (Newbie to this so please excuse my ignorance)

Most of mine dont even have bottoms on the boxes as you can see in this photo.

As for does the shape of the box matter, no if its only 1 box a side, if you have more then it would help if they were the correct angle so that they splay nicely and dont interfere with each other but that all depends on what horn you have in the box so it all falls down to horn and comp driver selection.

Quote Hi, I currently run a tri amp system  so my HF Horns are in separate cabs to my mids.

I also currently run bi/tri amp systems (bi-amp don’t use subs) but my horns are in the same cabinets to my mid-range.

Quote As there aren’t really any HF Box designs out there, I believe this is due to the box design not mattering…

The actual cabinet volume doesn’t matter; it just holds the horn in place. Where the horn is held does matter. Fitting the HF in the same box as the mids has the advantage of keeping the spacing between the mids and highs fixed and also reducing the number of boxes and cables needed at a gig.

With a decent compression driver you will probably just need the one.  With just the one set of mid-tops each side I’d go for a 90 degree dispersion angle so get a horn with that dispersion and will work down to 1.2KHz and cross-over at about 1.4 - 1.6KHz. With a higher cross-over frequency use a 60 degree horn. If you want to keep the separate cabinet make it match the mid cabinet so that you can line it up consistently.

@Strange daze - These cabs where covered in some material when I inherited them, I ripped the material off as it was mouldy/batted and then discovered I won't be able to paint them so ended up covering them in this swimming pool flooring material with old school aluminium edging! would of preferred to paint them but hey still don't look bad.
