Hey folks.
I know there are "better" scoops these days... But I have always had a hankering to make some of these... and nostalgia wins for this next project. I seem to have misplaced my Eminence build book, somewhere in the last 20 years of not even thinking about sound systems. ....anyone got the design please? All a search turned up, is some low-res images and a few random pintrest pictures. Many thanks in advance! |

The 18" Scoop plan will be useful, when the 12" plan is built, and then tested, and found to be useless.. ![]() |

from what little I know, I also think scoop is not the plan for a 12", Maybe punishers? or paraflex type o 2x12? Just some physics do not scale down

I remember 25+ years ago when i was in school Steveb had a brochure for his boxbuilding and within it had 12" scoops. Always wanted some bk then 😅 There are some actual monster 12" drivers now but they cost more than the 18s 🤣🙈🤦â€â™‚ï¸

djeddie is correct and has linked to the correct plan, it has the dimensions for the 12", 15" and 18" scoops in a table at the bottom!! also, for those who are interested in building vintage cabs, PDFs of the complete Fane book are still on ozvalves: https://ozvalveamps.org/cabinets.html Edited by APW - 12 March 2026 at 9:57am |

The link for the 18" is the same plan (look at the table at the bottom), and the copy that Ras Loud posted is readable with all the relevant info, however I have a copy of the book here and can re-scan if its not good enough.

A master Scoop/Reggae System builder, recently told me, he is not building 21" Scoops anymore, as there are now 18" drivers, that in modern, optimised 18" Scoop designs, will match 21" Scoops, at lower cost. ![]() |

My first time back here in over a decade.
Glad to see nothing has changed.... ...(as in, you thinking you're smart, with no context) They'll be perfect for a BGM retro install, where their main purpose is simply to lift a pair of full range cabs, ~1 metre off the floor, where limited footprint available... ...and to look "retro". They'll be perfect :) |
