Hi iv been building a few of staipers bandpass horns, and been loading them with PD1850s
theres my problem as they where designed for P audio SD18 drivers,

Is there any option i can slightly alter the design in terms of the driver pannel i cut it @  35-40 degrees rather than the suggested 45 degrees, as my magnet wouldnt fit without sanding/dremmeling and still its a tight fit... and of course a risk of damaging the magnet as it clears the cab by about 4mm!

BEst wishes
Liam

If i had an 1850 i'd probably put it in something else.
and get some SD18s (or similar) for your ES-18BPH

Size preferable, and want to keep all bass drivers uniform.

Im going to build a prototype out of mdf and see if it effects the performance if it does BBQ this weekend

What do you mean " keep all bass drivers uniform"?

I assume you have other bins with 1850's in....?
What else are you running?

OHM 450 (Band pass cabs)x4 i think thats the right model number.

Iv built 2 of the es-18bph with my modded angle and they seem fine (will post pictures shortly). Will test them if results good i will  build another 10 more. Smile

For some reason im in love with this cab, the warm rich bass sound, and of course minimum materials used.

Or am i tredding into sh*t here going against stipers suggested driver?

Best wishes
Liam

at the moment the ohm bandpass is getting us our bottom end, and hopefully our es bins for kick, would the pd1850 enjoy going lower than suggested for this cab?

what diy bins would you reccomend for our low fqs?

Its just that chances are the Paudio driver that this cab was designed for would perform better than the 1850, so its a waste of a monster driver!

What kind of system are you trying to run, what music and stuff ?

Hi, I think you might be wasting your PD1850.

As I understand it, the ES-18BPH is an industrial strength kick bin.

Shortly, I'll be considering getting these or USB's built, but I probably would be using Celestion FTR's or PD186.

I can understand standardising on one brand for large purchase reductions, but you can't standardise on 1x driver for different types of cab, as differing cabs have differing purposes and driver parameter requirements.
