X-12 style DJ Monitors?

Things are progressing rather quickly with the MT121/1850 Builds I'm doing so I have to start looking at good monitors for the DJ Booth.

Am I correct thinking the X-12's are more of a FOH/Mid-tops of a stack design? Or can these be used for DJ Booth?

Can anyone recommend a really nice 2 x 12"+HF, X-12 style DJ monitor free plans?
Some of the best outdoor Rigs I have DJ'd on have had floor standing dual 12"+ HF
Clear, Clean Loud be the qualities I am after.

If you were using it for a DJ monitor I would recommend building an X12 with the HF between the two 12" drivers.  It would make a very loud monitor!

Just modify the design to suit your needs.  The cabinet shape isn't critical.  As long as you end up with a sensible internal volume and tune it in the right region you'll be fine.  There's a massive selection of drivers which will work in it too.

You might want to find a wider dispersion horn for monitor use too.  If you choose some 12" drivers with a bit more low extension you can turn the box into more of a full range cab.

2 x P-audio SERIES 2 SN12MB
1 x P-audio SERIES 2 BMD 740 1.4"
1 x P-audio PH 85
run bi amp
in a MTM style cab - it should belt it out, make a nexo PS 5 sided trap style box and a handy full range box too.
Don't worry F$cked up bigger gigs than this one...........

The SN12mb seems to be pretty hard to find at the moment, have a look at the Celestion 12" TN as an alternative. I have just used a couple and have been very impressed for the money. Since I built them for a client I have 2 more orders after pepes just had a listen!!!!

The nice thing is they are pretty smooth up to 4k which makes x-over design and comp choice much easier.

As Chris stated just use a 1" comp between the 2 bass/mid drivers. Cross as low as possible but you could push it up to about 2.5K with just a little beaming from the 12" ers.

With the Celestions it should do about 128db cont. which is enough even for deaf DJ types.

I would stick with a large format compression drivers as per H's suggestion.  If nothing else they're harder to kill!  Crossover point about 1.5kHz.

When I was after some SN12mb's a few weeks ago could not find any in the UK, the only half respectable budget Neo driver I could find was the Celestion, glad I did it proved to be a cheap little gem.
It has not got the absolute definition of some of the European products though I would say it was a match for the MKI SN series.

specs look pretty good on the TN1230

It was the TN1225. Its smaller voice coil gives it a smoother top end. Its only 50w less power handling but looking at the graphs it seems to make up for this with  greater efficiency.
