I'm buying a pair of 186's loaded with 4 ohm Omega Pros and I see they aren't well liked here. Has anyone looked at the response of this combination and/or can tell me what's so bad about them? I'm hoping these have about the same output 50-125hz as a 2x18 front loaded cabinet but only need one half the power - does that sound reasonable? Thanks!

For the same price you would pay for a pair of omega pros (new) you could get a decent pair of secong hand drivers on hear in the for sale section.

You misunderstand - I'm buying a used pair of the 186 cabinets already loaded with the Omega Pro drivers for 400USD total Smile.

So, none of yous guys actually has any experience with the box loaded with the Omega Pro? I was hoping to read what equalization it needs or that it only goes down to "X"hz or something useful like that. As I stated I'm only expecting it to be as loud as a 2x18 front loaded cab in the 50-125hz range. I do not need them to take a huge amount of power or be super flat. I have found 1978 vintage Cerwin Vega bass bins to be usable in the past and these can't be as bad as those I think Shocked.

but seriously. if you dont buy the cabs you wanted to... build your own and source 2x second hand pd186... you could defo to that for less then £300/$400 if you know where to look

Supposedly these cabs were built by a cabinet shop and I'd think they are worth the $200 each even without the drivers? I'm only going to be powering them at 750w each and will HPF them at 45 or 50hz to keep them from getting muddy like horns do when fed stuff below their cutoff Smile. The seller was driving them at 1200w each.

roadranger i assume you are in the USA, they will work and thats a fairly decent deal on those since you would spend around 100-120usd on materials to build them yourself and someone else has allready built them. the omega pros are not very good driver but you can swap them later.750w a bit much for those drivers but if you keep an eye on it should be ok.
reality is meerly a compilation of what our limited sences precieve as being fact therefore there is no true universal reality and as such i propose that space and time can be bent twisted and altered
