One is a pro built cabinet and will sound nicer than the other - fact!
I'm not an amazing fan of the xtro, they are loud but I think the kick can sound a bit one toney at times. |

Purely from looking at specs, I guess EAW will have a slightly better integrated midrange. The xtro does away with the phase plug complexity and sacrifices some midrange refinement in favour of being able to push slightly further at the limits of its bandwidth. Xtro will give more sensitivity in the low kick region and a smoother response above 7khz. I haven't heard either cab though!

Are you looking to hire the rig? Get the EAW if so.

Not had any dealings with the X-tro, but.... I did own 8 stacks of KF850, superb smooth sounding boxes, not harsh in any way, but they need to be powered correctly to get the best out of them. As i've previously posted, on the advice of EAW we had two boxes per channel on the following amps; Comps - Crown MA2400, Mids - MA3600VZ and Bass - MA5000VZ. Another plus point is that the KF850's are full range. The SB850's were a little disappointing, EAW put this down to the boxes being underpowered as we were running them 1 box per channel on MA5000VZ's.
Only problem in my opinion is the weight, my gosh the boxes are heavy and the handles all point the wrong way.....!! The KF850 set was purchased primarily due to it's 'rider friendly' reputation, virtually every rider i've ever dealt with has had the KF850 named on it. |

Have heard the Xtro now, and reckon it would be a winner if loaded with 12" driver, instead of 8". Just as everyone told me, the 8" just doesn't keep up with 2x15s under pressure. Do trap versions of TMS-2s exist? That is my dream Mid top. |

dont think the guy wants to be modding cabs and experimenting. He just has the options for either cabs as they are and wants to know which to go for. What is the weight off the xtro roughly??
p.s Happy New year to all

Not heard the EAW's , personally think Xtro's sound amazing , XT8 horn keeps the 8" in check , and i hear with the right 15"s you can cross them alittle higher to take some stress from the 8".
