Hi all, I'm building a pair of X12's but have made the sides 1000 mm instead of the 900 mm to fit a bigger horn in & need to know what size ports to cut! Can someone please help as I want to cut & fit the baffles tomorrow night Confused

Many thanks

The increase in cabinet volume will actually only reduce the tuning frequency by less than 5Hz so to be honest I'd just leave them as-is.

I've been playing around with 2 x 18Sound 12ND610 16ohm mid-woofer for an X12 style cab in WINISD,
I get reasonable response with 75L tuned to 65Hz.

If you use the cross-over filter simulation in WINISD, (Highpass 2nd order 180Hz, lowpass 1400Hz 2nd order), what is the relevance of having the ports in the cab??? are they actually doing anything while the cabs are operating this freq band?

The variation of x12 I made is 10L bigger (to fit bigger horn as well) and the holes I used are 110mm instead of 100mm. It seemed to be tuned around 60hz when I had it stuffed with dacron.

All cabinet walls/internals were lined with carpet underlay as well. I ended up taking the dacron out and leaving the underlay in as the vocals seemed to sound better to me. I didn't bother to measure tuning again but the bass didn't strike me as being different.
