Don't know why anyone would bother really as the HD15 is a proven design that's already available.

...and with a selection of tried and tested solutions for the flare (curved section) with drawings and all, on this exact forum. be it a ply-curve, bendy mdf, five, three, or two part flare. actually i do not remember seeing drawings for a two-part flare, but i'm quite sure i've see photos of one. TDA-audio's maybe?

I love Rog's HD15, but Staiper's design is much better. It plays higher, more accurately because of the rear-loading, less difference in path-length, smaller front-chamber etc. plus I've made a modification which I think makes them play higher still, see advanced discussion, ES18 thread. HD15 struggles at 150Hz, ES18 are good above 200Hz. |

I personally think the 250Hz on the EM15 is being very optimistic! With a lighter cone, maybe...

I'm sorry, Smithshorn, but a 15" driver will fall straight through that 380mm hole in your EM15 baffle. It doesn't make sense.
I've got another nice plan here which someone has shared with me. The only problem is that some of the dimensions seem wrong. I'm going to check them all out and post the plan ASAP. |

It's not "my" plan. It's simply a design I've had in my files. As is true with ANY design that isn't your own, double check EVERYTHING, BEFORE building. I haven't personally built these so didn't modify the plans as posted elsewhere, or I would have corrected the flaw you noted. I will change that dimension on my copy of the plans. Good Eye! Thanks for pointing that out to everyone! Again, don't take anything for granted.

sorry Smithshorn, I was a bit rude about that plan.
I like this one though, it's like a ES18BPH but 15", maybe a Turbosound design. ![]() and with this modification, it should play higher: ![]() ![]() I'm going to change the access-panel to the conventional place for a HD, and fit the drivers from that side of the baffle, which will correct the volumes after the modification. edit: dimensions on the 2nd picture are for ES18, not this plan. Was there any follow ups to this design or staipiers modded hd?
I'm looking for a compact forward firing 15" kick bin to sit above my Lab horns.
