hello!
I have 2 Cerwin Vega 188EB 18" that im planning of building a scoop or horn for. My question is: would the CW work well in the MS-18Mkiii, how loud and how low can/will it go? Im going to use it in my "little" homemovie system:) So what do you think would be best building the MS scoop or the 1850/186 foldedhorn??? And what of those 3 cabs would play loudest and deepest?? please help!!

None of those will be both loud and deep. Pick loud or deep.

Well then, for home movie setup, make a 2x18 reflex, and tune it for 25hz. ![]() |

well the problem is that the CWs are build for horns/scoops. Fs 46 vas:200 Freq 38-15KHz. been adviced too build scoops pr horns instead. Boxes would be big ass hell and dont go deep anyway. how low does the MS scoop horn go???

Find more data:
Fs 46 Vas(L) 200 Re 6.20 Qms 1.556 Q 0.364 Qts 0.295 Mms (g) 84.4 BL 4.20 have even find the value 20.384 Sd(mm2) 1000 M MRF 18.077 (Grams) This sub is not build for reflexboxes a lot of people with knowledge also says it. So what would be best scoop or 1850/186 ????

Scoops and horns need to be in a group of 4 or more to give their best. So best is to sell those one you have (they are not good drivers anyway) and build a reflex subs.

hm why would 1pair of MS-18MK not perform so good?i mean im just going to have them for home use.....! how low will a pair of MS-18MK3 go?? i have a Crown amp to drive them with, also thinking of buying my self a DSP unit. And the CW 188EB will not be replaced until the day i have bought 2 Stroker 18" (the old mod) !Sure if i had the money i bought a pair of PD.1850.... but the CW will be enough for now.

+1 Fs of 46hz, will not sound as great in any box, compared to many other "Scoopy drivers", like Fane 18XB, Fane 18-1000, PD186, PD1850. In 400 person hall, it would be 4x high powered scoops. For Home movie system, twin reflex will give you both massive SPL & very low sub extension, assuming quality drivers. Would imagine, B&C/RCF/18 Sound are fairly cheap on the continent in Europe. RCF L18P300 & few others, really are quality reflex drivers. Edited by levyte357- - 29 October 2012 at 2:31pm |

hm if an Fs of 46 not will sound great in any box, then why the hell did Cerwin Vega build the woofer with that Fs ??????? Or maybe they wanted it to sound crap so people buy other brands instead.......!
Well i will build either 186 horn or the MS-18MK3 anyway. noone seems to be interested too help me find which of the 186 or MS-18MK3 that will be best. as told im going to use them for home use,and 4 boxes will be too much and take too much space. I dont have so much money so i cant buy the best......! And im a big fan of Cerwin Vega !! |
