How are you time aligning bass?
Have you read Bob McCarthy et al regarding the massive problems with aligning using only time/impulse response for low end given the huge bandwidth at play? |

Impulse response will give accurate results if you know what to do with it.

I use my Iasys machine, it's been mentioned many times on here. It's a dedicated machine. I'm doing another session today with someone else's gear.
Regarding the Iasys. look it up on the website, you will see how it works.

Mr McC was here recently giving a Meyer lecture I believe..... The system techs I work with were not very impressed by his lecture or his beliefs which go against their collected years of knowledge of quickly and correctly time aligning big PA`s....? .p.

That doesn't mean he isn't right though? New or different methods are always going to rock the boat a bit. In my, admittedly relatively limited testing, proper phase alignment sounds a hell of a lot better than just IR based measurements.

Incubus aligned finally? :p
It doesn't matter which method one uses, as long as the result is right. I can align system with several different methods and get same results so i don't have to rely on one thing only. It's not what you know, but how you do it ;) |
