why not use 4 18" single reflex boxes, i think they would sound better on the low notes than 15's.

Microscooper 15's [smaller than normal 15 inch scoops] on castors would be your best bet for a reggae sound.

They can easily be moved around on your own as long as your not carrying them up flights of stairs.

Or even 4 Punisher Horns are they are compact and light.

go for 5kw and i would advise you: 2x X1 with a recommended speaker for deep Bassline, 2x Hd 15 for kickbass and your tops. Be sure to give the X1 not too much power, lets say a 1000 watt driver not more than 1,2k because its a bandpass and will overheat. this should be a good set but for real vibes 150 people it is not that much. X1 is a heavy cabinet and gives you deeeep bassline but its not throwing the sound too far. for indoor supreme.

Well light enough for 1 person to carry is what I meant.

Not a 2-3 man job like an 18 inch scoop.

You don't 3 people to carry a full size scoop, 2 is enough, even 1 person can roll it onto one end, then the side & so on & get it into a van without a tail lift.

Have you considered a Mini-scoop on wheels King David ?
Believe me, they do sound good, especially the 18'' ones. If they are built correctly, they do play & sound deep/low.

For portability and best all-round performance the single 18" boxes as Static Age suggested are your best bet.  B&C Sub18 design is a good example and the plans are on their website.  15" reflex boxes tend to be nice and punchy but can lack the real low frequencies.

Scoops will give you the classic reggae/dub sound but tend to be large cabs.

In terms of mid-tops S200 have a lovely sound to them but you have to be careful as they won't handle a massive amount of power and replacement diaphragms are getting more and more difficult to find.  If you've got them already then stick with them.

Some single 15" + 1" mid-tops (like X15 but you can make the box smaller than on the plans without sacrificing anything important!) are another simple but effective option. For the size of parties you're talking about, 12" +1" cabs would also be ok.

if you have 200-300 (!) people on your sessions, dont think of doing it because you dont sound like a Soundsystem with 500 W reflex...double it and hornload your complete system because this is a big crowd...

I would still advise you to take something like X1 and punishers, but you must know that the X1 throw the sound not too far ( Bandpass ) but really loud and 2 of them with Void drivers will give a serious feeling in your chest. ( I have one too 1,2kw into driver, nothing but heavy)

as mykey said, if you only take punishers you will need min. 4 ( staying together with hornmouths ) to get 40hz but its loud then.

X1 give you 30-80hz(alone), thats the important bass for dub, because these frequencies are the ones you feel...and are the ones which the tunes are produced.

One love
