My first post, lots of images to show you........ It's a very special disco rig (front end) that dates back to 1975, and was used at least once a week for over 16 years. First image.......(loads more to follow), in storage and cased up. Has been in storage in Somerset for many years: ![]() Edited by L8 ECU - 11 April 2016 at 8:52am |

Thanks. The original cases were by Packhorse and blue. The cases pictured were made in 1992.

The DJ / presenters mixer in detail........bare minimum of controls! Notice no gain trim, just a fader and PFL for each input.......then remote machine starts, talk-back & metering. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Some general info.......
It could be said that millions of people listened to the output from the equipment! Originally the Friday night broadcasts were from the Empire Ballrooms (London), then for many years the venue would have been the Lyceum in the Strand (also London)........ In later years, there were many OB's from venues outside of central London. The equipment pictured above was always used with a very nice PA system........more details to follow in later posts. Absolutely Awesome!!!!
Would love to see some pics of the rig in action, all multipin'd up, proper tour spec mentally, doubtless the best sound you can get from a disc to output...... Awesome! ![]() |

An absolutely beautiful system. I would pay to play some vinyl on such a setup. May you please take some pictures of the eq section and possibly the internals. Is the mixing board powered by an internal or external power supply? Who built this system and what type of turntables are these?
I am impressed! Edited by Pinyorouk - 20 September 2015 at 7:24am |

I will find some black & white images and post up......but yes, this OB set-up was very high quality. Incredible sounds. The sound / tech performance had to good, as this was in the days of IBA "code of practice", when ALL ILR studio output (including outside broadcasts) had to be to a set (and very strict) minimum standard! The custom desks were made by Raindirk (Norfolk or Suffolk based IIRC)........google Raindirk to see their impressive client list. NO IC's in the audio signal path, all discrete components. These desks ran warm / very hot - especially the engineers desk. Edited by L8 ECU - 20 September 2015 at 8:46am |
