I'm quite happy playing ANYTHING. I know my subs won't match mini scoops for output, but I'm confident in the quality department.

Yes, single 18" reflex. Just a question of how many I am allowed to bring...

My twin 8+ 1" tops too, so there pretty tiny

So let me get this right, above bass is a standard system and all bass must be 'mini'?

Reason being Tony ASS rig has mini scoops but above is not what I would call mini

bit confusing at the moment

CSG, i use the BMS components in most of my boxes, but i have never made a subwoofer using any of their 18 inch drivers.
This is mainly because in any simulation i have done they had at least 3db less output aginst pretty much any other decent 18 inch driver.
Now my question for is. Are the sensitivity numbers on the BMS big boys somehow rated very conservatively so the results are not that good, or they are really a bot low on output?
Have you compared your subs with some other comparable subs with some of the known suspects like the TBX100?

Turned around you could also ask if the sensitivity measurements given by a lot of manufacturers are a little optimistic... A bit like the values given for xmax.

I'd be very interested to hear some of the smaller subs compared as I regularly use a pair of Q15s for smaller gigs. I also have a dual 18" design I've been working on which is based on Tony W's work with his Q-series (in that it uses assisted alignment). They will be using the BMS 18S450. I'd be happy to bring one along to a test-out sometime in the new year once they're built. Not sure whether they qualify as 'small' though; 1000H x 638W x 700D for 2 x 18"

When I was designing those subs, my prime considerations were sound quality, perceived throw ( there get used a lot outdoors at large events and musicality. One of my pet hates is one note droney bass.

I auditioned various drivers, but for me the 18S430v2 had the best balance of factors.i am quite sure there are higher output options, but rinsing every last DB from a rig is not what I am about, and I have the luxuries of having plenty of power in my racks, plenty of subs when needed and working In venues that have effectively unlimited power for my needs. My Christmas install for instance has 0.8MW of gen plant for instance.

Exactly my thoughts as well although I have to say that I hope that the source material is better recorded than a lot of the stuff I have heard over the last few years, of any genre.

By the way Ray you sure you don't have a secret passion for C&W as your the only one that ever mentions it on SP. :)

Slightly off topic, but still trivial enough to mention...
