I would suggest, 18LW2420, would be more optimal, in a reflex cab, and I actually have 4x in reflex cabs. Any particular reason you are choosing 18nlw4500? Be aware, it has cutout of 422mm and depth of 233mm. Also be aware, it has a no of 1.8, which means it really will require more power, for desired SPL, than many other drivers. Ah Levyte, I was hoping to find a reply from you on here :)
The reason I suggested LW2420 or NLW4500 is because both are suitable for hornloaded applications, and have the xmax/freq range desired. I'm a total newby when it comes to designing / reading T/S parameters so I just chose based on the parameters I knew / woofers I knew. So even though the LW2420 are suitable for hornloaded applications, you'd suggest putting them in BR?

OK, the 18LW2600 t/s parms, definitely suggest, it would be optimal in right Scoop. This would be a great starting point, for a cab for this driver, but, needs mods, so driver will fit, with sufficient rear clearance.  Edited by levyte357- - 17 November 2023 at 9:26am |

Obviously different people desire different response from their Scoops. Think Rog actually said it initially , and my modelling confirmed it, and Mykey actually said it. BL approx 25, will give you pretty flat response in Scoops, High BL >= 30, gives you the 40hz bang, flattened out by stack of 2x - 4x. This is possible reason many used to say, in Scoops, Fane 18XB was more musical than 1850, more warm sounding, but not the killer 40hz bang. Also the EBP of < 100, also suggests better in a reflex.

Do you think Martin Audio were idiots when they put 18TBX100 in the last generation of the WSX? Or the D&B Audio at their B2? Or many many other professionals?
2420 is more modern variant than 18TBX100. I remember the days when you said 18NLW9601 is not good for scoops :)

Think people who use FLH, are looking for different sound, to those who use Scoops. Scoops dudes prioritize huge sensitivity @40hz, with sub warmth, FLH fans prefer clean, uniform response. Reggae Scoop dudes, will use Pre-amp to shape sub, FLH dudes tend to stick with just Mixer and LMS. I actually use LMS and bass pre, to shape Scoop sound.  Also 18NLW9601, is a Rolls Royce sub driver, but really needs substantial power input, and right sub shaping to get "warm" sound.

Also you will find feedback from many people, who built their own WSXs, and loaded them with Void V18-1000, reported superior performance, than original cabs with original drivers. Response would not be as uniform 30-100hz, but 40-50hz would have substantial peak,due to V18-1000 30+ BL.
